Frederick Cooper Brand & Product Overview
Frederick Cooper is a legendary American luxury lighting studio
established in Chicago, Illinois in 1923. Founded by master metalworker and
artist Frederick Cooper, the brand is widely celebrated for treating high-end
lighting design as "illuminated art".
Historically favored by architects, high-end interior designers,
and luxury resorts, the brand is famously known for blending classic American
architectural movements—such as Art Deco and Hollywood Regency—with global
artisanal materials.
Design & Visual Breakdown
The Silhouette: The body features a classic tapered
obelisk or pyramid silhouette. This design draws direct inspiration from
geometric Art Deco motifs, offering sharp lines and a commanding, architectural
presence.
The Body: Constructed with multi-faceted, beveled
mirror panels on each side. The mirrored glazing bounces ambient light
throughout the room and creates a high-fashion, Hollywood Regency glam look.
The Base: Supported by a heavy, multi-tiered dark wood
or dark bronze-finished block base. This adds rich, grounding contrast against
the highly reflective mirrored surface.
The Shade: Topped with a tailored, trapezoidal
pyramid silkette fabric shade featuring distinctive black piping along the
seams, emphasizing its clean, structural lines.
